Tara Strong

Voice Over Star

What a treat yesterday, Terri. I cannot stop thinking about the vocal breakthrough!! E.G. came over tonight and was sharing how exciting it was when she had those breakthrough moments. You are truly so gifted. Life changing. So grateful for you!

E.G. Daily

Voice Over Star

E.G. came to Terri from other, more famous teachers and stayed. Later, while doing The Voice, she came back for Terri’s exercises and coaching. Her two daughters, Tyson & Hunter Soloman, both in the music industry, studied with Terri also.

“I have studied with many voice teachers on my journey. Terri Weiss is one of the best. She knows the voice and understands the instrument being an incredible singer herself . I would and have recommended her to anyone!”

E.G.  is an American voice actress and musician, who is best known for voicing Tommy Pickles in Rugrats and its spin-off All Grown Up!, Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls, Rudy Tabootie in ChalkZone, and Private Isabel “Dizzy” Flores in Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota’s manager sent her to Terri at age 10 to learn to sing for a charity event in New York. After studying every day, two weeks later she did a fabulous job. She returend to Terri later to study for her role in Houndog.

Dakota rose to prominence after her breakthrough performance at age seven in the 2001 film I Am Sam. Her performance earned her a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award at age eight in 2002, making her the youngest nominee in history. As a child actress, she went on to appear in high-profile films such as Man on Fire (2004), War of the Worlds (2005) and Charlotte’s Web (2006).

Natalya

Singer

Hand-picked by the artist, NATALYA, herself as the first single release following a long and transformative hiatus, “White Orchid” is a soulful cry, packed with emotional sincerity; a passionate collision of primitive darkness and ethereal angelic purity that boldly depicts this story of love, deceit, relentless devotion and survival. “White Orchid” is as delicately profound as the flower itself, blooming stoically and almost triumphantly despite the darkness of the dense canopy above it. With cinematic instrumentation lending the song a wide range of magnetic dynamics, “White Orchid” pulls you into NATALYA’s silky-smooth and haunting vocal interpretation. Her heart-wrenching lyrics and music interplay as words shared from the soul. A prodigious artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, NATALYA is able to tap into the DNA of the creative process and delight us with ideas that come from her heart directly through auditory portals to touch our own hearts. She achieves a masterful feat of combining ancient instruments like the hammered dulcimer and recorders, together with funk bass, electric guitar, atmospheric synthesizers and even a modernly designed acoustic instrument, the HAPI drum. NATALYA’s love for, and ability to play and compose on these unusual instruments is an unexpected gift to the listener.

For the past year I have been working intimately with Spirit to conceive my newest project. A visual album created in collaboration with fellow, independent, New Orleans artists:

6 : An Unbirth

A creation story that begins in the black.

A woman’s odyssey to mend the broken bonds between human and nature, Goddess and self.

Claude Hall

singer

Born in Brooklyn of Haitian parents, Ms. Hall moved to Paris in 1989, but an autumn weekend in Prague in 2003 proved pivotal when a friend overheard her singing a few Gershwin tunes and asked her to record a demo of “When I Fall In Love.” This led to a sojourn in Saint Barth, where she became the resident singer at Casa Nikki and La Plage, and found delight in discovering musical ways to express the different sides of her personality: little girl…humorist…temptress. She has subsequently settled in Los Angeles, where her musical horizons have expanded to include alternative sounds such as De-Phazz, Little Dragon, Me’Shell Ndegeochello, and Janelle Monae. She has been resident artist at l”Ermitage Hotel, Hotel Angeleno’s West Penthouse Lounge, La Valencia Hotel, and Bar Marmont. She’s performed at the Gardenia Lounge as well as Upstairs at Vitello’s and has taken her show to the Metropolitan Room in New York City. “Claude’s style is what music is all about. It’s fluid and full of emotion. It lends itself to romance, and her interpretations seduce the audience.”—Jeff West.

Mary Bogue

Vocalist

“It seemed insurmountable…

The daunting challenge of actually singing live with a mic in front of a crowd, and not at home with my hand-held shower head where I always sounded pretty okay, might have stopped me dead in my tracks if not for Terri Weiss. Terri is a magician of sorts. I left my first session with her, and like a whooped noodle, climbed into the car and wondered if I had what it would take to really sing. The second time I went to study with her, it was no better. I was exhausted. It left me seriously doubting myself. Thankfully, Weiss encouraged me to return and I did; thankful for her persistence and believing in my new venture.
Without a cape of glittering stars, Weiss transforms the possibilities to probabilities. She has no magic wand or top hat, but nonetheless pulls the best you out of yourself – if you do the work. If you’re even thinking about giving voice to your dream of singing, don’t wait. There’s a good reason her studio is booked with such great sounding talent of all ages. Everyone likes a magic show, and Terri Weiss is a sorceress.
Terri, thank you for your brilliant insight and talent. You are no slight-of-hand talent, you’re all hands on! I wouldn’t be here without you. By the way, was that a white rabbit that just ran by?”

Akosua Busia

Singer/Songwriter/Actress/Director

“I refused to sing in public, but since taking singing classes with Terri, I have sung before a president, a king, and many in-between, but the biggest blessing is Terri having shown me how to sing in my own voice. No one else’s, only the best of mine!”

Karla Kelly

Singer

“I had studied with quite a few different people over the years and had already been sing professionally for a while when I came to study with Terri. Ever since then I have told many people the same thing…Terri is the one who really taught me how to SING!!

Before studying with her I was afraid of losing my voice, afraid of doing things “wrong” and not sure what to do that was “right.” I had lost my voice once on a gig once and couldn’t sing for a week. Also I really didn’t know how to truly use my voice nor did I have any idea what I was capable of.

Studying with Terri I learned all of that. I learned how to really use and stretch my voice… and how to do it correctly so that I never hurt anything.

The 2 compliments that I get most often when singing, are how much stamina and power I have with my voice (I regularly sing 6 nights a week, 4 hours a night and my voice never gets tired) and how versatile I am with the styles I sing. I attribute both of those abilities to having studied with Terri.

To put it simply Terri is a wonderful vocal coach. She doesn’t ever make you feel bad or like you can’t do something. I truly believe she could teach anyone to sing. And make them feel great about themselves the entire time.

I have made my living as a singer for years now and I have great confidence that I can sing anything thanks to Terri.”

Renee Ousted

Warner Bros Jazz artist

Warner Bros. recording jazz artist and television star, Renee Olstead studied with Terri from age 9 on.

David Rosales

Singer/Songwriter

David Rosales came to Terri a heavy rocker in Silent Treatment. He’s now singing with a sweeter sound in his album, Along the Way.

“I came to Terri having a couple key issues with my voice: control and power.  She welcomed me with open arms, a nurturing heart and the ability to work on exactly what I needed.  Over the course of a year-and-a-half, she worked me over pretty well.  Each session was always encouraging, loose and fun.  Terri never tried to mold me into any one particular style.  She enhanced what I brought to the table – reinforcing my hard work outside of our sessions with an eagerness to push me further and applaud when I reached our goals.  I wouldn’t be nearly the singer I am today without my time with Terri.”

Reminiscent of artists such as Ryan AdamsAmos Lee, and Brett Dennen, David Rosales shakes things up on his 2014 sophomore solo EP, Along the Way, with a broad sonic palate rooted in American country, folk & blues.
